The Auntie

The joys of being an Aunt are amazing. I can remember saying all the time I want to be an Aunt. They get to have all the fun. You get to be the one who goes shopping and spend some quality time getting to know your niece or nephew. These children will want to actually hang out with their Auntie hopefully! Well I have been a Aunt now for 4 years actually longer and I truly love it. My nieces and nephew soon to be nephews, are some of the highlights in my little corner of the world. My perception of Aunties may have been misguided some though. I go through struggles, special moments, and of course the Auntie Knows Best moments, but as an Aunt you give, guide, encourage, and let go. I have decided to embrace my Auntie role and learn to guide and inspire my young family members. Who knows, maybe I can learn something.
Growing up everyone was family. So I have a ton of Aunts. I did not know until I was older that most of my Aunties were not actually part of our family tree. Yet they are closer to me then you could imagine. The bond of family is there. You could be an Aunt to your best friend's children, maybe your co-workers kids, or your second cousins. It does not matter how they became my Aunt but my life would not be complete without all my very own Aunts and Aunties. So this blog is the Auntie Corner if you will, a place to let my light shine for all those little people in my life. Auntie's Rule, Uncle's Drool!

Five things I did not know until an Aunt
- Love just as much as if they are your own.
- When listening to your niece or nephew you may need a translator aka MOM or DAD, then eventually you just know.
- You get a show every time you stop by.
- Your the back-up... Mom said no, Auntie has to say no too... ( sometimes )
- Aunties are normally only fun until its bed time. Example, AUNTIES: "Okay I think its time for bed little buggie,".... CHILD: "I think I wanna go home and see my MOMMY!
